 straw and horse poo bags
so was planning on doing a bulk grow, pasteurized the shit last nite and when i was going to case today, i see trich all over the rye berry bag, so i chucked it(wanted to take a chance with it since it was about 25% trich, and the rest white fleshy myc) and since i didnt know what to do with the horse and straw mix, i mixed with pasteurized verm, and loaded it into bags, and they are currently in the pc for 45-90. now when it comes to innoculation, i understand that these bags will only colonize with lc and not ms? and if im correct, lc is good as long as you still see clouds in jar( have some lc that i never used and its been about a year, still looks healthy, except 1 jar that the lc looks really thick, and a tint of yellow clouds, but they do disperse when shakin) . was really hopin on testing out the super koh sumai heard they where good but since i dont have lc of that might have to go with something else was really hopin everything would turn out this time around would appreciate the help

Re: straw and horse poo bags
has the LC been in the fridge? 1 year is still a long time but i have used lc 6 months old so who knows. i would wait for someone else to chip in on the lc. u can use a spore syringe but it takes the entire 10cm. im sure u can use less but the more u use the better the odds and faster growth.

Re: straw and horse poo bags
also if you are making your own bags you can put a layer of hydrated grain (wbs, rye wheat) like a pint on the top of the substrate then sterilize and you can use spores let the grain colonize then mix it all up.Works great I would even do this when useing LC as it will speed things up conciderably.

Re: straw and horse poo bags
Sorry, but I couldn't follow close enough as to what was actually getting the trich? If it's the substrate, then pH it up a bit to 7.5, hydrated lime is perfect for this. I always make sure my substrate is at 7.5, regardless. If it's your spawn then you can pH the grain up IFF your inoculating with LC. However, I don't reccomend it. The best way to prevent it is making a glovebox/flowhood for inoculating spawn. After you get to your bulk substrate the best prevention methods are plenty of fresh air, pH 7.5, and keep everything clean.
EDIT: I see it was the bags. I hope you cleaned your room after you dumped them and took a shower then put on clean clothes.

Re: straw and horse poo bags
after looking at pics , i think it was blue-green mold, trich looks more emerald and bright green, and when it was broken up would turn to dust(was wearing mask and gloves while doing this) but this seems to be a common problem so any help would be appreciated. just found my ph reader so should be a little easier to measure the water while cooking grains. gonna redo my grow spot and make it more airtight since gnats seem to be a problem also.

Re: straw and horse poo bags
DE will eliminate your gnat problem if all you have in there is substrate and jars.
